Allure Sample Society April 2015 Box

Sample Society is a beauty subscription box curated by Allure Magazine. For $15 a month you get 5 deluxe size beauty samples, a detailed mini magazine giving information about the products and a $10 coupon code to use off a $50 purchase from! This is my second month getting this box. Last month was awesome, this month- not so much. Read all about my March box here and find out what I got in April after the break!

My April box included:
-Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper in Rio
-Benefit The PoreFessional
-Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Perfume
-Illume Tonka Noir Candle
-Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil
-Mt. Sapola Lavender-Chamomile Body Lotion

My biggest disappointment in this month's box was the sample sizes. They were all SO SMALL. Some of them I can literally go get the same exact sample for free at Sephora or a makeup counter. If this happens again next month, I'm out.

Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil .07 fl oz
This oil is meant for all hair types with Argan, Coconut, Macadamia, Sweet Almond and Grape Seed oils meant to condition and all shine. It has UV and heat protection inside. There are a ton of silicones in here and I prefer my oil blends silicone free. On the plus, it is lightweight, clear and really did add a nice amount of shine to my hair. Has a nice clean smell as well. I wouldn't rebuy it only because as I said, I prefer silicone free oil blends instead. I am happy I got to try this out though, as I heard a lot about it.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Perfume 0.04 fl oz
I don't love perfume samples because I am so picky with what scents I like. This is described as an airy floral fragrance with some fruit and flowery notes, plus musk and coconut water. I don't like this fragrance, there is something in it that really bothers my nose. The bottle on the cardboard is pretty though.

Benefit The PoreFessional .10 fl oz
This is the second month with a Benefit product! For me that is a good thing because Benefit is one of my favorite makeup brands! The sample size was SOOO TINY. That being said, I love this product and have used it before. It is a multi use product you can use as a makeup primer or on top of your makeup to help with shine and large pores. It has a light peach tint and makes your skin look great. I have been pairing it with the Benefit Stay Flawless primer like they suggested to do on their site and it is my favorite primer combo that keeps my makeup on all day and helps with the big shine problem I have. I also love the cute packaging. Silver lining to the cloud of small sample- I can throw this in my bag for touch ups and it won't add any weight to my purse whatsoever?

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip Plumper in Rio
This sample was also super small. I didn't use it because it's brown. Is it the 1990s? Brown lipstick?? No thank you. Brown shades of lipsticks do me zero favors. I will be passing this one on. The formula is supposed to gently plump lips and hydrate them with shea butter, sunflower oil and aloe.

Mt. Sapola Lavender-Chamomile Body Lotion .6oz
Another rant about sample size.  This sample barely covered both my arms. That being said, the smell is spot on to French lavender, it reminds me so much of the Lavender Wen Cleansing Conditioner. The smell is also super strong. If I used this around my boyfriend I think he'd complain about it. Formula wise, this is a really nice lotion!!! It's lightweight yet extremely moisturizing and left my skin silky and with a nice glow. The bottle says it is fortified with an essential oil blend.

Illume Tonka Noir Candle
This was the only sample this month in a decent size to me. It's also probably my favorite thing in the box. It smells SO GOOD. So very good! I wonder if this scent comes in a perfume and/or lotion too? I will have to look into that. The notes in this paraffin-and-soy wax candle are Mandarin, plum, rose, jasmine, tonka bean, musk, sandalwood and Madagascar Vanilla. It's a warm, gourmand-meets-floral smell that I am crazy about. I really smell the Madagascar Vanilla and tonka bean. I'll be sad when I burn this all up but I plan on cleaning and reusing the cute little tin.

Sadly this was not the best subscription box ever but I know going into it, subscription boxes are a gamble- some will be great and some won't. Hopefully May's Allure Sample Society box will restore my faith in this subscription. We will see.
