Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair New Shampoo and Leave-In Spray!

Briogeo's Don't Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask has been one of my all time favorite masks now for years. I've repurchased it countless time, as well as the overnight treatment from the same franchise. When I heard the brand was releasing two new Don't Despair, Repair products, I couldn't wait for them to get in my hair!!! Read on for my review after using them a few times.

Both products smell AMAZING just like the Don't Despair, Repair mask! The fresh, invigorating, fruity floral aroma that is seriously addicting. Also, like all Briogeo products these new products are free of sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, DEA, and artifical dyes, as well as being cruelty free.

Don't Despair, Repair Super Moisture Shampoo
Them: "Who it's for:  Those with dry, damaged hair who want a deep cleansing experience with hydrating and repair benefits.

What it is:  If a shampoo and a hair mask had a baby, this would be it. This innovative formula merges the intense cleansing action of a shampoo with the moisture of a deep conditioning mask without weighing the hair down or stripping color. This shampoo is fortified with the same conditioning and repairing ingredients that are featured in Briogeo's best-selling Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask.

What it does: The Don’t Despair, Repair!™Super Moisture Shampoo provides deep cleansing and hydration benefits through a unique combination of algae extract, panthenol, and biotin. Algae extract nourishes and strengthens the hair while panthenol enhances hair elasticity, moisture retention and flexibility. Biotin strengthens the hair shaft and hair follicle to prevent future damage."

Me: I love the fact this shampoo comes in a pump! It makes it so easy. For a sulfate free shampoo, this lathers beautifully. I used it with my vanity planet scalp massager and it left my scalp and hair feeling so clean, as well as somehow feeling thicker. It didn't feel stiff or too stripped, but my hair definitely wanted conditioner after, as it does with all shampoos (as opposed to co-washes). I think this shampoo has the perfect amount of moisture for a cleanser. When I get out of the shower after using this shampoo and gently towel blot my hair before applying conditioner, there's always more shine than usual. I'm going to be using the shampoo once a week for the foreseeable future to give an updated continued use review, but after using it a few times already now, I'm already in love.

Don't Despair, Repair Strength + Moisture Leave-In Mask Spray

Them: "Who it's for:  For those with dry, damaged, and brittle hair that want an instant reparative treatment for healthy looking hair.

What it is: A strengthening and reparative leave-in deep conditioner that provides repair benefits beyond an in-shower experience and produces healthy, stronger hair in between washes and heat styling.
What it does:  The unique micro-encapsulated argan oil adheres to the surface of the hair and closes structural gaps on the hair shaft. The hair cuticle is restored, leaving hair stronger, healthier, and hydrated."

Me: A leave-in spray mask? What?! I like to consider myself on top of new hair product trends and I never heard of such a thing! That is how you KNOW Briogeo is truly innovative!! I used this on soaking wet hair after rinsing out the mask. It's a spray, but not an aerosol. I wanted to point that out because I thought it was just by looking at the bottle, but I should have known better since Briogeo is very eco-friendly, which is an amazing thing. I asked the brand if I can use this on dry hair, too and they told me that "it can, but the patented argan oil molecules in the formula work best to mend and repair damage when hair is damp!" I definitely want to get the most out of this product so I'll use my Rosarco Milk Leave-In Spray on dry hair and keep this new gem for wet hair post shower. The spray disperses the juice nice and evenly. Usually, my hair prefers cream and heavier conditioners as a leave in so because of that I sprayed my soaking wet hair quite generously, focusing on my hairline and ends which need the most damage repair. First use? I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! My curls were bouncy, shiny, not too frizzy, feel soft and my hairline pieces didn't't look as bad as usual. I got the same results each time I've used it so far. Since I'm not used to spray conditioners, I did wind up using a little too much my first time but have adjusted since. Like the shampoo, I plan on using this quite regularly to give an updated continued use review, but I have a feeling I am going to be begging Briogeo to make a supersize of this.

So for this wash day, I went with all Briogeo!
 Here is What I Used:
  • Cleanser: Don't Despair, Repair Super Moisture Shampoo
  • Conditioner: Don't Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask
  • Stylers: Don't Despair, Repair Strength + Moisture Leave-In Mask Spray, Curl Charisma Rice Amino and Quinoa Frizz Control Gel, Rosarco Oil
I left the mask on about a half hour and rinsed it out completely before applying the styling products. I applied the styling products on soaking wet hair. I used the Leave-In Mask Spray while standing up to get my hairline good and then continued to spray once my hair was flipped over. I then went in with the gel and oil. I used my Aquis Towel to get my hair off my face and help with drying time while doing my skincare regimen. Once I took my hair out, I scrunched more and added a little more gel and oil combined while fixing my part. I then air dried completely.

Aside from the shine and bounce, my hair air dried at a nice rate (in other words, NOT 8 hours!) and I also noticed my hair felt significantly lighter than usual. That was a plus.

Last time I tried the Curl Charisma Gel on wet hair, I thought the hold was too light for me. I actually liked it significantly better on wet hair this time around, but still prefer a strong hold gel. Because this was my first use with the new leave-in spray and being a little nervous the gel wouldn't have quite enough hold, I think I did go a little too heavy handed with product application. But still, my hair felt incredible soft and I had nice shine and definition. There was some frizz since my hair does like firm hold gel better.

So the following week (I only use sulfate free shampoo once a week and I co-wash for my other cleansings) I decided to use almost everything exactly the same, but switching out the gel for one of my favorite firm hold gels that my hair is used to.

Here is What I Used:
  • Cleanser: Don't Despair, Repair Super Moisture Shampoo
  • Conditioner: Don't Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask
  • Stylers: Don't Despair, Repair Strength + Moisture Leave-In Mask Spray, Firm Hold Gel (different brand), Rosarco Oil
As far as product application, I kept everything the same as the previous wash, except went a wee bit less heavy handed with the leave in.

I definitely like my results paired with the firm hold gel better. There is less frizz but my hair still feels super soft, with nice defined waves and shine. My hair actually looked even better but I was out all day running errands and it was windy because I had a chance to snap some pictures.

I'm sorry the pictures were not all taken in the same area. Tommie wasn't home to take all the selfies and help me with the second set. I just had him do the back for me. Good news too, my new ring light just came so lighting will be better again!!
