The Mane Choice Healthy Hair Regimen Boosting Kit

I've been playing with more and more products by The Mane Choice lately. Most recently, I've been testing out their new "Boosting Kit" that is currently available at Walgreens and on their site. The brand says that this kit is "a highly effective solution to advancing your healthy hair care regimen" Read on for my thoughts.

From the brand:
"The Mane Choice Boosting Kit is a collection of uniquely developed products which contain a high concentration of strengthening, hydrating, and restorative ingredients. Designed to help rejuvenate severely dehydrated, weak, brittle, and shedding hair and deliver relief from a dry, itchy, flaky scalp. This Boosting Kit is a highly effective solution to advancing your healthy hair care regimen.
***Products may be used individually or collectively, as needed.***"
I really like that these products are infused with great ingredients and don't contain sulfates, silicones, parabens or things I tend to avoid. Everything also smells ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.

Also, when I first saw the size of these bottles I didn't expect to get much use out of them since my high porosity hair eats product like crazy, but everything is quite potent and a little goes far! I'm happy I'm able to get several uses out of everything.

Mocha and Molasses Anti-Shedding Remedy
Them: "Innovative, highly effective one-of-a-kind treatment designed to minimize shedding instantly. A natural source of vitamins and minerals strengthens hair drastically reduces breakage."

Me: This is a pre-poo and designed to be used on dry hair before cleansing and conditioning for up to 30 minutes. The texture is very thick, yet it spreads through my hair easily. Since this is designed to help shedding, I massaged it into my scalp and focused it near my roots and then brought it down through my length. The blend of coffee and molasses gives such a decadent aroma and has been craving an iced coffee. I will say, even after first use I did notice less hair in the shower drain and as someone who sheds enough for five people, that is an awesome, awesome thing.

Silk Amino Acid and Keratin Reconstructor Treatment
Them: "A high-quality, concentrated shot of gentle, yet highly effective protein-blend, formulated to help repair and restore damaged hair. Also, designed to help prevent damage from daily wear and tear, color/chemical treatments, environmental, heat and mechanical damage. Reconstructs hair from the inside out and fortifies weak, limp hair.  Drastically reduces breakage."

Me: Of the four products, though potent,  I use the most of this at a time. That being said, where with a lot of products I can use a 2oz bottle in one shot, I have at least three uses in here. There are so many awesome things in here including keratin, quinoa, silk amino acids, vitamins, Meadowfoam seed Oil and more! It truly is a bottle of restructuring and repairing goodness. My hair loves protein and needs all the restoration it can get. I do like this alone, but even better when mixed with the Rehydration Therapy below. When I use this, my curly waves seem to be extra bouncy which is always a fantastic thing.

Sea Kelp and Feverfew Herb Rehydration Therapy
Them: "A highly-concentrated dose of hydration, designed to deeply to restore hydration and add softness. Protects hair from hard water to allow for maximum penetration. Helps to minimize moisture evaporation to promote elasticity and reduce breakage. Revives lifeless, dehydrated hair."

Me: A little of this goes so far, I was pleasantly surprised. I sprayed about 5 sprays per section of my hair and it felt like plenty! I like the way it helped detangle, left my hair feeling like silk and more manageable overall. If you have thirsty hair like mine, I think you will go crazy for this. There are so many awesome ingredients inside, including Sea Kelp which my hair LOVES, also Panthenol, Biotin, Lavender, Sea Kelp, Coconut Oil and SO MUCH MORE!

Since I do like mixing the Reconstructor with the Rehydration treatments, I wanted to talk about them being used together. When I apply them, I mix the two in the palm of my hand before applying and raking it through my hair in small sections. I leave them on my hair for about a half hour to really penetrate and work their magic. Aside from defining my curls, my hair feels so healthy, has absolute minimal frizz and even feels lighter.  I think the duo makes me hair behave better, even my stubborn front hairline pieces!

Trigylceride and Mint Scalp Renewal
Them: "A healthy scalp promotes healthy hair. Our Scalp Renewal is formulated to dissolve residual debris, and minimize dryness, flaking and itching. This therapeutic scalp remedy helps to renew the scalp to promote maximum scalp health."

Me: I don't necessarily have a dry, flaky or itchy scalp so I can't claim on that. But I do like that ingredients inside such as biotin, tea tree oil and peppermint oil are known to help promote hair growth. I've been using this twice a week with my scalp oil blend and so far, so good! It is not too oily and doesn't weigh my hair down. I am going to continue to use it for added hair health.

Since I don't have a ton of The Mane Choice Products (yet...I hope to change this soon) I mixed the items from this kit with a couple things I did have by the brand, as well as some other favorites.

Here is What I Used:
  • Pre-Poo: The Mane Choice Mocha and Molasses Anti-Shedding Remedy
  • Cleanser: Devacurl No Poo Decadence
  • Conditioner: The Mane Choice Silk Amino Acid and Keratin Reconstructor Treatment mixed with Sea Kelp and Feverfew Herb Rehydration Therapy
  • Stylers: The Mane Choice Ancient Egyptian Split End Serum,  Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair Leave In, Devacurl B'Leave in and Arc Angel Gel, The Mane Choice Heavenly Halo Serum Oil

I left the pre-poo in about 45 minutes while I worked out, then cleansed it out, rinsed and followed up with conditioner. I left the mix of the conditioners on my hair about a half hour before rinsing completely. For stylers, I applied them the same way I also do- on soaking wet hair with my hair flipped upside down. I wrapped my hair in my Aquis Towel while doing my skincare regimen, took it out, scrunched some more and air dried completely.
