Nyakio Beauty Skin Care and Lip Products at Ulta

Nyakio is a newer beauty brand owned by Sundial, the same parent company of Shea Moisture. This Ulta Beauty exclusive line was new to me when I received these products, and I'm beyond impressed with the quality! Read on for more.

Here is some information about the brand from UltaBeauty.com:

"Global beauty secrets. Cultural traditions. Indigenous ingredients. Hand made with cold-pressed, multi-functional oils in small batches, Nyakio's formulas are carefully made with ethically & sustainably sourced natural ingredients steeped in secrets passed and family traditions.

Formulated without sulfates,

phthalates, parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehyde, butylene glycol."

Since I'm happy with my current complexion routine, I decided to try out some lip products, a body scrub and an oil blend!

Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub
Them: "Indulge in smooth, glowing skin. Nyakio's Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub is an energizing body scrub that blends exfoliating Kenyan coffee and sugar with nourishing shea butter and baobab oil to envelop skin in a luxurious experience. Dull, dry skin gets polished away, leaving behind a silky layer of moisture.

Key Benefits:

  • Exfoliates with Kenyan coffee and sugar
  • Softens skin with shea butter and baobab oil
  • Leaves skin silky-soft and radiant
  • Cruelty-Free"

Me: This scrub is fantastic and a new favorite. I've been using it twice a week for a couple of weeks and I'm so pleased with my results. It smells like coffee (yum!!) and leaves my skin feeling so very silky smooth and soft. A little bit goes a long way which is also nice.

Red Ginseng Line Smoothing Eye and Lip Cream
Them: "Rev up to smooth out. Nyakio's Red Ginseng Line Smoothing Eye and Lip Cream is a multitasking eye and lip cream that softens the look of fine lines while smoothing, hydrating and conditioning skin.

Key Benefits:
  • Multi-tasking, anti-aging eye and lip cream
  • Softens the look of fine lines
  • Moisturizes the delicate the eye and lip areas
  • Enriched with potent red ginseng from China
  • 100% Vegan
  • Cruelty-Free"

Me: Since I'm currently using up another eye cream I enjoy, I've been concentrating this one around my lips twice a day. I have some intense lines on and around my lips since I drink out of straws and have my whole life. It's too soon to say this made a profound difference, but the consistency is luxurious and rich, doesn't feel greasy and absorbs in so nicely. It also didn't cause my acne prone skin to break out.

Kenyan Coffee Lip Polish
Them: "The perfect prep step for lipstick. Nyakio's Kenyan Coffee Lip Polish is a softening lip scrub that polishes away dry skin to reveal soft, supple lips.

Key Benefits:

  • Enriched with Kenyan coffee to gently exfoliate
  • Leaves lips soft and smooth
  • Preps skin with Nyakio Baobab Lip Balm
  • Cruelty-Free"

Me: Being a lippie junkie, it is super important to take care of my lips. No lipstick looks nice on chapped lips! I've been using this lip polish daily and it does an excellent job at prepping my pout for the lip balm to follow and removing any dead skin that tries to sneak up. I like that this lip polish isn't messy or fussy as some tend to be and I especially like that it is in an easy to use squeeze tube as opposed to a jar.

 Baobab Lip Balm
Them: "Silky, soft lips like you never knew. Nyakio's Baobab Lip Balm is a luxuriously rich balm that melts instantly for soft, supple lips.

Key Benefits:

  • Melts instantly for soft lips
  • Intensely hydrates
  • Contains baobab oil from the "African Tree of Life"
  • Cruelty-Free"

Me: This lip balm is incredible. INCREDIBLE. When the brand says intensely hydrates, they mean it. I use this a few times a day and especially at night before bed. I also like it before lipstick, as I feel it kind of primes my lips and fills in the lines for a more even color application. My lips are soft and supple after applying. It gives off the slightest bit of shine which I enjoy.

Majacuja and Yangu Soothing Oil
Them: "Relieve the redness. Soothe and nourish skin while calming red, sensitive areas with Nyakio's Maracuja and Yangu Soothing Oil. With their high content of essential fatty acids, maracuja and yangu oils blend together to create a gentle barrier for skin. Both oils are cold-pressed to preserve their nutrients.

Key Benefits:

  • Color-corrects the appearance of redness with a natural green tint
  • Conditions, soothes and calms skin
  • Lightweight oil to nourish skin
  • Rich in pure, cold-pressed oils - Yangu, sourced from the "Beautiful Tree" in South Africa, and Maracuja from Rwanda
  • 100% Vegan
  • Cruelty-Free"

Me: As mentioned earlier, I'm happy with my complexion regimen right now so I have not yet used this on my face. First thing I notice, this does have a green, earthy scent to it. It's not bad or overly fragrant, but it is there. This oil blend is a nice, thinner consistency, it absorbs into my skin super quick. I've been using it on my hands, concentrating around my cuticles and also in my hair on days 2 or 3 if some frizz pops up or if it feels very dry. The oil blend does a great job at leaving both feeling SUPER soft.

Overall, the products I've tried so far from Nyakio were very impressive. All of the products I tried seemed to be very potent, a little goes a long way and they are very high quality. Nyakio, you're on my radar now. I'd happily recommend giving this line a try.

  1. Have you ever tried these straws. Fatter than average straws, reusable - so better for the environment.
