Boucleme Curly Hair Products Review

I have been wanting to try the Boucleme line for curly hair for so long now after hearing so many good things about the products. Recently, I was finally able to! After playing with these products for about a month, I can share my thoughts on the line. Read on for more.

About the brand
Here is some information about the line from their website:
"Our products are packed with high performance actives that restore moisture and life to dry lacklustre hair. We use plant derived ingredients and avoid harmful chemicals. The entire Boucleme range contains 0% sulphates, silicones, mineral oils, petroleum, propylene glycol, PEGs, parabens, and artificial fragrances and colours.
We refer to the Environmental Working Group (also know as EWG ) to help keep our products are clean as possible."
I really like that this line is on the natural side, with no bad ingredients and tons of extracts and botanicals inside to truly help promote healthy hair!

Hydrating Hair Cleanser
Them: "Formulated with sulphate free detergents our mild low lathering cleanser is perfect for fine hair and loose waves. Gently cleanses scalp and hair whilst restoring strength and improving overall hair health.
Packed with nutrient rich oils of Coconut, Mongongo, Seabuckthorn and Camellia that nourish the hair shaft, protect from environmental pollutants and promote healthy hair growth. Plus Sea Salt to help boost volume and blood circulation in the scalp.
Antioxidants Vit C & E, amino acids and Omega 7 help repair sun damaged hair, as well as replenishing moisture and shine."

Me: The consistency was thin and runny. It produced a small lather, which I always like. I spent some time massaging it into my scalp and when I rinsed, it left my hair feeling clean and somewhat moisturized. I always appreciate when a lathering cleanser leaves my hair moisturized, too. I still needed to follow up with conditioner, of course. But this is a really nice cleanser.

Curl Conditioner
Them: "Our super-hydrating curl conditioner is rich in Omegas 3, 6 and 9, vitamin E and antioxidants to strengthen the hair and protect it from environmental stressors.
Our unique formulation penetrates deep into the hair cuticle, using virgin coconut, argan oil and aloe vera leaf actives to replenish much-needed moisture and bring shine to dull dry curls."

Me: This conditioner is a lot richer than I was expecting, and that made me happy. I love a nice, rich, silky conditioner. I've been using this as a leave in and applied using the "seaweed technique" My hair drank it up and the slip was absolutely fantastic. As moisturizing as this conditioner felt, I don't think it weighed down my hair at all, which is another bonus. Those with finer and thinner hair, I believe you will find a little goes a long way. I needed a medium amount for my super dry, porous curls. The scent is herbally, which I am not a big fan of. I'm glad it didn't linger to much because performance was really great.

Intense Moisture Treatment
Them: "Enriched with high performing active ingredients, our Intensive Moisture Treatment is designed to strengthen hair, enhance curl definition, rebalance moisture and improve hair health.
This powerful and rejuvenating formula is rich in omegas 6 & 9 Marula Oil protecting hair against environmental stressors; moisturising Mafura Butter to prevent breakage; penetrative Camellia Oil to reduce tangling and infuse hair with vitamins A,B,C and E; softening Prickly Pear Seed Oil packed with vitamin E, minerals and fatty acids, antioxidant Sea Buckthorn Oil to stimulate growth and promote hair elasticity plus plant based keratin Wheat Bran with amino and fatty acids to help improve flexibility, manageability and condition of hair."

Me: This treatment is almost perfection. Why almost? I'll get this out of the way first: I do not like the smell at all. It is very herbal and strong. I so wish the scent was different. Performance wise, this stuff is fantastic. The consistency is actually not super duper rich and thick, it is more like a lotion and even a little runny, which surprised me for a treatment. However, this stuff truly gives intense moisture. It glided though my hair with great slip, just like the conditioner. I needed a decent amount- not too much, but also not just a little. When I rinsed it out, my hair felt like silk. My hair was bouncy, looked and felt so healthy whenever I used this stuff. Despite my nose not being fond of this treatment, it does get rinsed out and my hair was very happy. The jar said you can use this as a leave in but sadly I just can't bring myself to do so in case the scent lingers while left in.

Curl Defining Gel
Them: "Extracts of Aloe Vera and Linseed smooth and define curls giving all day frizz control and great curl definition. Our moisturising gel smoothes and defines curls without flaking or stickiness. The gel dries hard, creating a cast around the curls.
Scrunch to release the cast, curls are left shiny, super soft, and bouncy.
For all-day frizz control and incredible curl definition."

Me: This scent is a nice light citrus. This may be a new favorite second or third day styler for me. When I used it on second day hair after a refresher spray, the bounce in my curls were reactivated, frizz was calmed down and it had nice hold without leaving my hair stiff. I also tried this on wet hair after shower and sadly it did not work well for me this way. My hair likes a strong, firm hold gel and this hold is just too light. Though the curl definition was there, there was also more pouf than I wanted and too much frizz. To be fair, it has also been humid outside, so I do plan on trying this again in cooler months. Maybe Boucleme can release a firm hold gel in the future!

Curl Cream
Them: "Give dry and dehydrated curls some TLC with our ultra nourishing and moisture-replenishing curl cream.
Created using humidity resistant kukui nut oil and nutrient rich coconut fruit extract plus super conditioning oils of coconut and castor. This leave-in soft hold cream minimises frizz creating defined, soft and shiny curls.
Styles, defines, softens and moisturises."

Me: I LOVE that this has a pump! If you've been following me for a while (thank you), that should be of no surprise. This has a minty scent to it. I don't use curl creams on wet hair due to not strong enough hold, but I really like this on dry hair to add some moisture back in! It works for me on any day hair to give my dry strands a drink and feeling nice and soft. This cream isn't too heavy or greasy at all which is good. I did try this as a leave in (with additional gel for hold) and it works nicely that way, but I prefer the curl conditioner as a leave in since I find it to be a bit richer.

WASH DAY 1
This is a fresh wash day where I incorporated some Boucleme with some holy grails. This is air dried and while my hair was still damp I actually had it in a loose pineapple to go in my pool for a while!!
This wash day included the Intense Moisture Treatment and the Curl Conditioner used as a leave in.

DAY 2 HAIR
This is Day 2 hair immediately following the wash above. After working out and using a dry shampoo on my scalp, I used the Curl Gel on my lengths.  The lighter hold is ideal for re-encouraging my curls on day 2, as well as helping to tame frizz.

ANOTHER WASH DAY
This was an almost all Boucleme wash day. I used the Hair Cleanser, Intense Moisture Treatment, Curl Conditioner as a leave in and the Curl Defining Gel. The one non Boucleme product used was an oil blend between the leave in and gel because I also use an oil as that step or my hair comes out even more poufier.

Overall, I do like the Boucleme line. I love the ingredients in and not included in the formulas, the beautiful bottles and the results of most of the products when used in a way my hair liked.
