A Double Treatment for an Amazing Hair Day

This great hair day is actually from August 18th! That gives you a bit of an idea of the craziness my life is right now with LESS THAN A MONTH until the wedding! I decided to try something I've been thinking about for MONTHS: Olaplex No 3 and an Aphogee Protein Treatment on the same day. Read on for details!

I owe two apologies before beginning:

#1 My blogging has been at a serious low lately. I'm sorry. See above. Wedding planning, anxiety and stress have been quite consuming and I've been pairing it with things to relax and enjoy to counterbalance. Once said wedding is in the past, I should get back to blogging a bit more regularly than just once or twice a week.

#2 The quality of these pictures kind of suck. I wound up doing the treatment on a day we had a few places to go. I got some nice lighting pictures in the car on the way when we went to visit Tommie's aunt and uncle. By the time we left them though it was pitch black out. We went straight to one of Tommie's shows after so if I wanted any pictures at all, and I did, they had to be in the car. I tried at every stop light and the gas station to get decent-ish lighting. I usually don't edit my pictures, but I also tried to lighten them up just a bit so you can actually see my hair. The place Tom has his show was also dark and I was too shy to take pictures in there with people looking at me. So I'm sorry these aren't the best pictures to show my good hair day!

So I've been thinking about doing an Olaplex No 3 treatment and Aphogee Protein Treatment on the same day for quite a while. With the Aphogee Protein Treatment, you also need to follow it up with a moisturizing treatment so this idea would be a bit time consuming. It did take a little bit, not as much as I thought and in my opinion the results were worth it.

Olaplex
Olaplex No 3 is a bond builder and not an actual hard protein treatment, which is why I figured it would be fine to use both the same day. Please keep in mind I am not, nor have I EVER claimed to be a professional hair stylist.

First I applied Olaplex No 3 all over my dry hair as soon as I woke up that morning. See my video HERE on why I love Olaplex No 3 for my curls. I left the Olaplex on while I ate breakfast and also worked out, so for a couple of hours.

Cleanse
After I rinsed the Olaplex No 3 out I cleaned my hair with Hairfinity Gentle Cleanse Shampoo. I've been using the Hairfinity Shampoo, Conditioner, Leave In and Vitamins since mid July now and love them. They'll have their own dedicated post soon. But since I work out almost every day and only wash my hair two to three days a week, I prefer a nice sulfate free cleanser over only co-washing. This shampoo is sulfate free, hydrating and contains lots of ingredients inside that promote healthy hair growth!

Aphogee
Next up was the Aphogee Protein Treatment. This is used with heat to lock it in the hair. It is important while the heat penetrates the product into the hair shaft not to manipulate or comb the hair at all. The hair hardens up, as it is supposed to. I had my blow dryer on it about 15 minutes or so before rinsing. Note that this product is not Curly Girl Friendly, it contains silicones, but my hair really loves it every four to six weeks to help maintain it's integrity.

Moisturize
I went back into the shower to rinse out the Aphogee Protein Treatment. Since this does harden in the hair to strengthen it and prevent breakage, it is important to follow up with something super moisturizing. I meant to grab my Jessicurl Deep Treatment but since the bottles look identical, I grabbed my Jessicurl Too Shea! Extra Moisturizing Conditioner instead. Not a big deal because this conditioner is also super duper moisturizing and fantastic. I let this sit on my hair about another half hour before rinsing with cool water.

When I rinsed my hair after everything, my hair felt so silky, and somewhat a little thicker. I wasn't expecting that, but I will take it!

Stylers
To style I used Hairfinity Balanced Moisture Conditioner as a leave in. I applied this using the "Seaweed Technique" my hairstylist, Sage, taught me (see HERE for video demo) This conditioner has the perfect amount of moisture and greatly improves my hair's manageability and unruliness. I then flipped my hair upside down and applied Jessicurl's Rockin' Ringlets, Raw Curls Oil Blend and Jessicurl Spiralicious. Scrunched a whole lot and air dried completely. Part of my air drying while at Tom's family's house I did have my front hairline pieces clipped all the way back to stretch them out.

My hair had almost no frizz until we left Tommie's family and had to run in some rain to get to the car with no umbrella. Bleh. Still, for rain, this hair is not bad!!

In the car with hair still air drying and pretty wet, especially the roots:

After running in the rain. All air dried. These pictures had no flash. I tried lightening them up a little with an app:

These were taken with the flash. Tommie was sweet to take the back for me:

Outfit picture from earlier while my hair was still half wet. This dress is from Urban Outfitters a few years ago. Very basic and comfy! The shoes, also a few years old and super comfy are from Aerosoles. What can I say, I love comfy stuff.

My makeup this day was all IT Cosmetics except my mascara since I ran out of theirs. I was watching them on QVC while getting ready and wanted to play along. My lip combo, which for some odd reason I never put together until that day was the Your Lips But Better Liner in "Je Ne Sais Quoi" with the same color Blurred Line Lipstick on top! This color wore through dinner!! Amazing!

And here is a picture of my almost husband playing his bass that night. I love saying almost husband, it feels so surreal.

My hair had great definition, minimal frizz and felt so healthy. I like doing these treatments alone, but pairing them together every so often really brought things to the next level and I will definitely be doing this again.

Thank you to all my kind and loyal subscribers for being patient and understanding lately with my lack of posting. Again, I am sorry. Be sure to follow me on instagram if you are not since I have been better at keeping up there!
