Olaplex 1 and 2 At Home Results + Sephora VIB Rouge Haul

Today's blog is a two for one! I have lots of details about doing Olaplex 1 and 2 at home and also my haul video from the recent Sephora VIB Rouge Haul! Continue reading for more.

Okay, that is pretty much off topic but please understand that is why my blog is a bit lacking lately. After all of the festivities, I am hoping to get back into regular blogging more. Thank you again for understanding and please make sure to follow me on instagram since I have been more active on there. If I see interest expressed (aka you have to comment so I know), I may do a blog and/or video after the wedding on how I prepped and got my hair, skin, body, etc as ready as it will be.

I mentioned it is my wedding month, but for months now I've been doing so much to prep myself for the big day to hopefully look somewhat decent. This includes my hair. Last month, my dear fiance decided to buy me Olaplex 1 and 2. This is the Olaplex that is supposed to be done in salons only and for professionals, but I was able to get my hands on some thanks to a friend (and yes, it is authentic).

I've been using Olaplex No 3 forever. I swear by it and use it almost weekly. If you don't know what Olaplex No 3 is, check out my video here for the details.

Since I REALLY want my hair to look decent at the wedding, I decided doing the Olaplex No 1 and No 2 treatment would take my hair up a notch. And it did!! Even now, a week since I did this treatment, my hair is behaving better. You better believe I will be doing this treatment again the week of the big day!!

Olaplex No 1 and No 2 are made for chemically compromised hair. You can google search it for tons of information. It is NOT a conditioner or protein treatment, but rather a bond builder. Myself and other curlies have found that Olaplex has had positive benefits for the bounce, shine, frizz and managability in our curls even if we do not necessarily color or chemically alter our hair. I haven't colored my hair in over 3 and a half years now, but my hairline pieces still misbehave and since my hair is high porosity, it is overall frizzier than I prefer most of the time, despite all the good things I do.

Here is some information from olaplex.com:
"Our simple three-step process includes a patented active ingredient that works on a molecular level to seek out broken bonds in the hair that are caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage. You can use Olaplex to restore compromised hair, or add it to another service to provide the ultimate breakage insurance.

No.1 Bond Multiplier®
Beginning The Rebuilding
This concentrated first salon step rebuilds broken disulfide bonds and begins the process of preventing damage and repairing hair.

Bond Perfector®
Pursuing Hair Perfection
Our second salon step continues to rebuild and restore any remaining broken bonds ensuring the strongest, shiniest, and healthiest hair possible."

Also, I found this blog post here on Olaplex's blog about the benefits virgin hair gets from a stand alone treatment if you'd like to read.
To do my standalone treatment, I followed the instructions on a card that came in the kit with my system. Super easy:
  • On DRY hair, I first applied a mix of 1/2 oz of No 1 with 3oz water using a bottle to fully saturate my hair with it root to tip. The kit includes this handy measuring tube you put on the No 1 bottle with measurements to dispense the right amount. I let it sit about 20 minutes or so while I used my NuFace Microcurrent Device on my face. The direction card said to leave this on a minimum of 5 minutes.
  • Next, I applied a generous amount of No 2 right on top of No 1 without rinsing No 1 out at all. I combed this through with a wide tooth comb root to tip as the instructions stated. I left this on for a couple of hours while I ate breakfast, checked my e-mails and worked out.
  • After I worked out, I showered, shampooed and conditioned, going about my usual routine.
Here is everything I used in and after shower:
  • Cleanser: Hairfinity Gentle Cleanse Shampoo
  • Masque: Shea Moisture Anti-Breakage Masque, used with ThermalCare Hot Head for heat. Let on half hour
  • Stylers: Hairfinity Balanced Moisture Conditioner (as a leave in), Jessicurl Rockin' Ringlets, Spiralicious Gel, Hairfinity Nourishing Botanical Oil

I applied my styling products as usual. Using the "seaweed technique" with my leave in and then applying the rest upside down, one by one and scrunching them in. I wrapped my hair in my Original Moxie Versatowel while doing my skincare and then took it down and clipped my hairline back to stretch it back as my hair air dried.

The pictures below were taken with my iphone X in front on a ring light. No additional edits or photoshop done EXCEPT this was the week I was breaking out severely so I just removed the pimples because they were big, red, ugly and gross. No added smoothing, airbrushing, etc, etc.
The lippie I have on in these pictures is "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" from the Too Faced Anniversary Collection. Eyeshadows are from Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.

How often you do the No 1 and 2 treatment versus the No 3 is up to you and how your hair is behaving. If you are really unsure or not super familiar with your own hair, it is probably best to go to a professional. Side note: I am NOT, nor have I ever claimed to be a hair professional. Since I have my wedding coming up, I am planning on doing another one in about a week and a half from blog post (so two and a half weeks from first time I did the treatment) but in general for maintenance I am planning on doing this one once a month and Olaplex No 3 once a week in between.

Olaplex No 1 and 2 have had the same positive results as Olaplex No 3 has on my hair, but amplified. The shine is magnificent, the curls are bouncy and the frizz is cut down. With No 1 and 2, I do especially notice my hairline pieces behaving even better.

I've had a few Sephora gift cards I've been holding onto waiting for a good 20% off sale just like this! Check out the video below to see my haul. Products mentioned are in the YouTube description box:
