Boucleme Super Hold Styler for Curly Hair

I've been playing with the new Super Hold Styler by Boucleme for a little while now. When I reviewed some of this line last year, I was hoping the brand made a firm hold gel. Low and behold, here it is! Continue reading for my thoughts and more.

If you'd like to see my review of most of the line I did last year, CHECK THIS POST HERE.

Like the rest of the Boucleme line, this product is free of sulfates, silicones, mineral oils, petroleum, parabens, propylene glycol, PEGs, phthalates, artificial colors and fragrances,

Here is some information from the brand about the new Strong Hold Styler:

PLANT POWER RATING:
99% naturally derived"

I absolutely love the fragrance of this product. It is fresh and delicious. The scent reminds me of one of my favorite candies, sour gummy colas.

Performance wise, I am please. It isn't the most firm hold gel I ever used, but it is quite strong. It dries with a nice cast that scrunches out effortlessly. Once I scrunch out the crunch, I am left with very soft and shiny curls underneath. I do have some frizz, but that is because it has been SUPER humid near me lately, so nothing short of a miracle will my hair completely frizz free right now. Still, I'm overall impressed with the hold. My hair survives my work outs until about Day 3 or so. It also works nicely to help frizz and stop days old hair from poufing out. I'm surprised it didn't leave dry hair crunchy, but I'll take it! One thing is, the company said less is more with this product and I simply didn't find that to be my case. I did need to use quite a bit to get my desired hair goals, but that again can also be because of this time of year. The ingredients in this gel are also really clean, which I like.

As you may know, styling product wise I usually like to do a leave in, filler, gel then oil on my wet hair. I decided to play around and test the gel with and without my filler product. My filler still makes a huge difference.

Also, I know I need a trim beyond badly in these pictures. Between taking them and editing this post, I finally got a trim.

WASH DAY 1
This was a wash day where I just used a leave in, this gel and an oil to seal.
I took pictures in two different rooms. The second set of pictures, that room runs VERY yellow and warm so I did try adjusting the cast in the photos. That is the only edit, besides cropping.
wet vs dry

WASH DAY 2
This was another wash day where I used a leave in, my filler, this gel and an oil to seal.

If you like the bracelet I am wearing, it's from a company called Sashka Co. They have so many beautiful colors and styles and each portion help women in need and are handmade by skilled artisans in Nepal. Each bracelet also comes with a lifetime guarantee and a perfect fit promise!

Both wash days I used the same leave in and oil and applied products the same way to keep everything else consistent. I also air dried both times.
