Ecoslay Orange Marmalade: The Firmest Gel Ever?

I have been using up my hair product stash and not really buying too much new. But that changed with Ecoslay Orange Marmalade Gel. I kept seeing people achieve amazing results on Instagram using this gel and read more and more how it is the firmest hold and strongest gel they've ever tried. As someone who NEEDS a super firm hold gel if I want to get even halfway decent hair, my eyes and ears were open, I caved and bought it. Continue reading for my review.

Here is some information about the gel from their website:
"Ecoslay has done it again! Orange Marmalade's firm-hold formula delivers frizz-free curls with incredible shine. With a pump dispenser and fantastic slip, this all-natural gel is easy to apply and gives you consistently beautiful curls each and every wash day.
Directions: Apply liberally to soaking wet hair. Air dry or diffuse.
Ingredients: Flaxseed extract, Agave nectar extract, Pectin, Aloe Vera juice, Marshmallow Root extract, Vitamin E, Xanthan Gum, Optiphen Plus, Sweet Orange Essential Oil."

Since this product is super clean, 100% natural and doesn't have preservatives to extend shelf life, I keep mine in the freezer to extend the life so it doesn't go bad. The company says nine months. Honestly, at the rate which I've been using this gel I don't even think I need to worry but it doesn't hurt to be extra cautious.

The smell is delicious, like fresh oranges. It is not too strong and in my opinion, very pleasant. I love the huge size of the tub and the fact it comes with a pump! Love a pump to make product application more easy and even. The consistency is more of a gel cream than a clear gel and that caught me off guard. Not a bad thing, though.

I've been using this gel a few weeks the same way I usually use gels on my wet hair. I apply after a leave in and filler but before a sealing oil. I did try it without the filler for the sake of the blog review in one wash, but for whatever reason my hair just behaves so much better when I add a filler in on my wet hair styling. I do want to mention when applying, sometimes I did see some white clumping when applied over my leave in, but that is not noticeable whatsoever and I get no flakes when I dry.

This truly is the most firm gel I have ever used. I absolutely LOVE it. It has become holy grail status, tying my DevaCurl ArcAngel Gel, though this one is a bit more firm! I've only air dried with it, since I prefer air drying and it is just way to hot right now to diffuse. I always apply products in smaller sections, with my head upright, gently pushing them into my hair, going down the length and then scrunching. I usually never get a cast with gels, no matter how much I use. This is the first gel where my hair actually dries in a crunchy cast! Once my hair is fully dry, I take some of my favorite hair oil in my hands and gently scrunch out the crunch and it is quite easy to do so. My hair underneath is defined, shiny, soft with very minimum frizz. Since the humidity around me has been super brutal lately, this is not the time of year for me to ever expect frizz free hair. I also really like that using this as the foundation to style wet hair has been giving me great day 2, 3 and 4 hair, even in the warm weather, even lasting through intense work outs! That is impressive!!

Ignore the makeup free face. This was a wash where I used my leave in, the Orange Marmalade Gel and sealed with oil on wet hair but skipped my filler between leave in and gel. The wash still came out pretty decent, but with filler added it is even better!

This is a wash day where I did my usual routine and used my leave-in, filler, the Ecoslay Orange Marmalade and oil to seal. Completely air dried. Pictures taken with iPhone X in front of ring light when it was dark out. These pictures came out grainy so I did try to fix that a little.

Overall, the Ecoslay Orange Marmalade Gel has been getting along with my hair very nicely and I definitely will be buying more once I run out!
