My Curls are Back and Bouncy - Post Blow Out Care

My curls are back after wearing my hair straight and blown out a couple days! In this post, I will talk about what I did to revive and treat them after the blow out I got from Hair Repair Bar. If you missed that post, you can see it HERE. Read on for more.

Unfortunately, my blow out did not last nearly as long as I hoped it would. This was nobody's fault but my own, since I don't know how to care for blown out hair anymore.

Even though the salon said it was a "heat safe blow dry," to me, using heat is still using heat to an extent, so I wanted to do everything I could to make it up to my curls so they bounce back nicely. Enter: Triple Treatment.

If triple treatment sounds familiar, it is because I have done it before in this post HERE.

First, I slept with the Tweak-d Restore Ancient Rituals Rejuvenating Oil in my hair. I really LOVE this oil blend. It's crazy how even after a few minutes, my hair already feels softer! Plus, the scent is so delicious.

When I woke up, I used Olaplex No 1 and 2. This is the more concentrated, salon professional version of the No 3 at home treatment that I use weekly. This stuff is only sold to professionals, but I have a professional friend who gets it for me. I try to do No 1 and 2 about once a month and the month mark was coming up so post blow dry this was the perfect time to do so. I applied it when I woke up and let it sit during breakfast and my work out- so about three-ish hours.

Treatment 3 was using a deep treatment mask with both moisture and protein, and using heat to further intensify the results! I went with my favorite, Briogeo's Don't Despair, Repair!

Here is everything I used to cleanse, condition and style. Yes, I wound up using three shampoos because I couldn't decide and they have different benefits. Just like I'm not saying anyone NEEDS to do three treatments, I also am saying no one actually NEEDS three shampoos at once, I just like to mix and match the get the most out of my hair. So, do you.

  • Pre-Poo: See "Treatment 1 and Treatment 2"
  • Shampoos: Prose Custom Shampoo + Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair Shampoo + Hairmax Density Stimul8 Shampoo
  • Conditioner/Mask: Hairmax Density Exilar8 Conditioner + Briogeo Don't Despair,Repair Mask under the Thermal Hot Heat for heat (for about thirty minutes)
  • Styers: Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair Strength + Moisture Leave In MaskProse Custom Conditioner (as a leave in), Raw Curls Mousse, Original Moxie Hold Up and Oasis gels mix, Prose Custom Oil

I styled my hair with my head upright. I do gently squeeze out excess water now before applying products. My hair would be a bit less frizzier if I did not do this, but it also takes longer to dry. I applied products section my section- first pushing the conditioner into my lengths and actually adding more water to hydrate and then I follow up with my stylers. I used the Aquis Hair Towel to remove moisture and added in a bit more gel and oil. After air drying for a bit, I went in with more gel, especially around the hairline. I fully air dried.

This was my first time using the Hairmax Shampoo and Conditioner. I swear I am shedding more than I should be, so I'm incorporating these now to hopefully stop it and prevent thinning. I've been using the Hairmax Laser Comb since February 2018 and a preventative measure, but I think excess stress is sadly just prevailing right now. I also am incorporating Briogeo's Don't Despair, Repair Shampoo and Leave In more now to get even more benefits from the collection, since I adore the mask so much. Sadly, the leave in by itself isn't weighty enough for my hair.

These pictures were taken outside in natural light with my iPhone X. No flash.

These first set of pictures, my roots were still a bit wet.

These pictures were a couple of hours later. I clipped my hairline pieces back since they are wonky to try and stretch them and I also scrunched my hair dry a bit to break up some light cast that formed.
