My Hair (and look) for Christmas

Christmas is always fun to get dressed up and try to feel pretty. Truth be told- I'm kind of terrible at fashion. I always feel I look weird in everything I try on so I rather focus on my makeup and hair.

I got my roots touched up the week before so they would be all nice and ready for the holiday pictures!

Christmas Eve was on a Tuesday and I washed my hair the Monday before. I always prepare to style 2nd day hair since it looks better than freshly washed. I successfully had nice 2nd and 3rd day hair for Christmas so I was very happy. There was a little bit of frizz, but I think I might have put a wee bit too much product in at once to cause it. Ooopppss

Here are some pics from Christmas Eve:
For my wash day the day prior, I used the Kerastase Cleansing Conditioning Balm to clean followed by a mix of the Living Proof Restore Treatment Mask & Restore Recovery Regimen (i use 1 ampule a week for 4 weeks after coloring) and also mixed in a sample packet of the Kerastase  Reflection Chorma Riche Masque. Style wise I used DevaCurl Heaven in Hair as leave in, Living Proof Prime, Restore Cream, Jessicurl Spiralicious and sealed with pure Argan Oil. I let my hair fully air dry.
i wasn't ready for this pic but Tom snapped it and I liked it

For my second day hair (Christmas Eve as you are seeing in the pics) I used my "special concoction" of products that will make my hair look it's best- shiny, minimum frizz, hold for days and maximum curly wavy definition. I will have to do a video of what I do for this soon. Check out my formula after the next pics...

So this is what I do when I want my hair to look it's absolute best. I'll be honest, my hair sometimes feels a bit sticky and not as soft as usual as a result, but it looks great in pictures. I divide my hair in sections- left back, right back, left side, right side, top back, left front and right front. Now for each section first I'll spray a refresher spray (usually Jessicurl Awe Inspiraling Spray or Devacurl Mister Right) then I will take a half to 1 pump of Devacurl Mirror Curls and mix with a nickel size amount of Wondercurl Smoothie and coat the section and scrunch. Repeat throughout the whole head. Once I do all my sections I take Devacurl Set Up & Above (it's pretty much a pomade) and will add some to my ends and the front- this helps to seal and disguise any split ends I have. Finally I use a nice aerosol hairspray for extra hold- my favorites lately have been the Living Proof Flex Hairspray & Devacurl Flexible Hold Hairspray.

close up of Christmas Eve Eye Makeup
I created a sort of gray/silver smokey eye for Christmas Eve- the goal was not to cry it off and it worked. I stopped myself crying a few times (i always miss deceased family members on Christmas) The eyeshadows are from 2 seperate tarte palettes. Liquid Liner is tarte multiply. Bottom waterline is tarte smoldereye pencil in slate. Lashes are tarte lash primer then lights, camera, flashes on top
close up of makeup with flash
I really should have taken the closeup of my face without my flash on. I am still learning. I used tarte BB primer, tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, it Cosmetics byebye undereye concealer, contour with the tarte amazonian clay stick concealer in deep, then I use a bronzer (i rotate), some blush (I used tarte blush in natural beauty) and a finishing powder I made by mixing about 4 brands together. The lipstick is called "show me the ring" by Dalton Cosmetics.

Now Christmas Day was a lot more simple. My hair survived from the day before (I slept with my hair pineappled in a satin bonnet) It felt a bit stiff from all the products in it so I just used a refresher spray again and sprayed very heavily, scrunched and was done.

So here is Christmas Day aka day 3 hair:
candid shot of me opening presents
another candid gift opening shot
My wonderful boyfriend took a bunch of candid shots of me opening my gifts! Little did he realize they would double as good pics to show my hair for the holiday =)

I went very simple with my makeup with the exception of a red lip which I thought was fitting for the holidays. The red is the double ended lipstick and lipgloss by Dalton Cosmetics that was in her irresistible lipstick collection.

So that is basically it. My hair also lasted quite nicely for Day 4, except there was just a little more frizz. I didn't even need refresher spray for it. You can check out my Day 4 and watch my What I Got for Christmas Haul in the video below:

Thanks so much for reading and watching! I Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

It Cosmetics New Year Your Most Beautiful You Review & Demo

This upcoming Saturday December 28, 2013 It Cosmetics is bringing us another fantastic kit on QVC! For one day only it will be the Today's Special Value so the price will be the lowest ever and you get a lot of great stuff for your money. This specific kit will be focusing on giving us flawless skin with all new items!

Included in the kit is a new version of the best selling Celebration Foundation- Celebration Foundation Illumination (try saying that over and over, it's fun) The original is my personal favorite powder foundation and this one is also just as good. In my opinion, shades are running a tad bit darker with the new formula as you can see in the video below.

The other best selling Bye Bye Undereye Concealer is reformulated to a doe applicator with a magic little liquid brightener on the other side. This is my faveorite part of the whole kit because it truly perfects and lights up the whole face. A

A new primer called Sensory Awakening is in here too. It has aromatherapy in it and just smells wonderful. I smell lavander and orange. There's also a crazy good amount of skin care ingredients from vitamins to essential oils, collagen and even deep sea water!

And what would an It Cosmetics kit be without some new brushes?? We get 2 of them and they are in the Micro Airbrush Technology just like the limited edition kit that came out for Holiday this year.

For much more information, my full review and a demo tutorial, check out my video below:

Dalton (Doll 10) Cosmetics Charming Lipstick Collection

I have said this before but it is worth me repeating- I have become obsessed with Dalton lip products!! I just love how her lipsticks glide on like butter, they are super pigmented and so good for the lips! I have been eyeing this set for a few months now but tried to convince myself I didn't need it. Yes, I'm silly to think I didn't need these. Ultimately the lip product junkie won and I got this Charming Lipstick Set and I am oh so glad I did because yes indeed, I did need it. If you LOVE pink lipsticks just like me- stop reading now, go to the link and order and thank me later. I'm serious!!! All four lipsticks in this collection are shades of pinks and they are perfect shades at that.

The shades are a variety ranging from nude to light pink to bright pink to berry and they make the whole face look brighter. On the top of each lipstick is a cute little charm that makes them oh so girly and fun! These are smaller than the average size Dalton lipstick but there is still a ton of product in each tube.

These lipsticks wore for a few hours so I am quite pleased with the staying power. In this freezing cold winter they are keeping my lips moisturized and nourished. As stated on the QVC site, they are full of vitamins minerals and oils such as jojoba, avocado and almond so they are treating your lips while making you look pretty. All four of them also have a nice glossy finish.
key to my heart

show me the ring

i heart you
naughty & nice

I really enjoy all 4 shades, there is not a dud in the bunch but my favorites are "show me the ring" and "i heart you" I'm hoping Dalton considers releasing these colors permanantly in her line.

December 2013 Birchbox & Ipsy

Here are my videos for Birchbox and Ipsy for the month of December...truthfully I didn't love either one this month but both have been hits for me lately so I kind of knew I'd be bound for some disappointment at some point LOL It's okay, they are only $10 each and I give what I don't want to friends and then do the reviews earning myself free full size products. That really makes them worth it.

Tarte Wanderlust Lipsurgence Collection Holiday 2013

Holiday 2013 from Tarte Cosmetics seem to be never ending and believe me when I tell you I am not complaining about it!!!! The value and great products they put in their sets make me so happy. This particular set is a set I wasn't sure we would see this year since it did come to us rather late in the season (compared to when they started releasing their sets in September) But- better late than never!

The Wanderlust 5 Piece Lip Surgence Collection is a QVC exclusive and brings us 5 FULL SIZE Lipsurgence lippies in 3 different formulas: 2 lip cremes, 2 lusters and 1 tint. They all glide on the lips smoothy and smell of mint. I find all five colors to be wearable and pretty:

for a detailed review, live swatches of all 5 colors plus a comparison to the lipsurgences in the recent Bow & Go kit, check out my video here:

Mally Beauty Effortless Airbrush Mousse & Full Face Demo

The Effortless Airbrush Mousse is the newest foundaton from Mally Beauty. It is available on QVC and comes in 5 shades (fair, light, medium, tan and rich) I went with the shade medium and it is almost an exact match to my skintone. It is worth noting this particular shade is on the lighter side of medium. This foundation is said to be long wearing, moisturizing and leaves an airbrushed finish behind- and I completely agree! It left me with a very natural finish that wasn't too matte and not overly glowly and wore all day without fading. My skin just looked like a better version of itself. The foundation has buildable coverage from medium to almost but not quite full. Application was easy but you have to be sure to shake the can first- this allows air to get in the formula and is what makes it look "airbrushed"

For a full review of this new foundation, plus to hear me compare it to all other Mally foundations, check out my video below:

If you would like to see my demo this foundation, along with a full face of using mostly Mally Beauty products including some from her most recent December 2013 Today's Special Value kit, watch here:

It is a 12 piece collection called "Celebrate Your Beauty" She provides us with enough stuff to keep it all and have all new goodies to play with, gift it to one or several people or even split it up by keeping some and giving some. Tarte Cosmetics At A Gloss for Words Special Edition Lip Gloss Set

Tarte Cosmetics released yet another great set for Holiday 2013! This is another QVC set called "At A Gloss For Words" (I love the name! hehe) It contains 15 (yes fifteen!!!) mini sized maracuja infused lip glosses for under $40! They come in a big box and within the big box are 3 smaller boxes each housing 5 glosses inside. The big box and each small box have a to and from label on it so it is easy to bow and go. It is perfect for gifting because you can give it as one big gift, or divide it into 3 smaller gifts. Of course you can keep some or all for yourself! I suggest getting 2 sets because once you try a few you are not going to want to part with any. ;)

I love the Maracuja Lip Gloss formula. Maracuja Oil (a signature tarte ingredient) is high in vitamin C and helps nourish and hydrate your lips with wear. Some of these glosses are more pigmented than others but all the shades are very pretty and wearable. I am especially thrilled with this set because most of the shades are pink toned and I LOVE pink lip products! The formula has a minty taste and smell, much like the tarte Lipsurgences and is not tacky or sticky. They wear until you eat, drink or kiss. There is no stain effect.

This is from describing the colors:

  •  Awe, a nude shade
  •  Admire, a blushing pink shade
  •  Excite, a candy pink shade
  •  Happy, a peachy pink shade
  •  Marvel, a brightening pink shade
  •  Amaze, a petal pink shade
  •  Thrill, a dusty rose shade
  •  Elate, a bubblegum pink shade
  •  Pop, a nude coral shade
  •  Spark, a deep berry shade
  •  Ahhh!, a sheer pink nude shade
  •  Revel, a berry shade
  •  Please, a shimmering sorbet shade
  •  Bliss, a nude rose shade
  •   Wow, a deep pink shade

Check out my video for more of a review, plus swatches and pictures of all 15 shades!

Dalton (Doll10) Cosmetics Classic Couture Eyeshadow Palette

I have really been enjoying some Dalton Cosmetics products from QVC. Her lip products (lip sticks, glosses, etc) especially have impressed me. For a while now I have wanted to try some of her eyeshadows (I am an eyeshadow JUNKIE) and as soon as I saw this Classic Couture Eyeshadow Palette released for Holiday 2013 I knew it HAD to be mine!

Before anything else, I must say they pans are HUGE!!!! Seriously, you get so much product for the money (roughly around $40ish) I think this palette is going to last the rest of my life. Also included in the price are two nice double ended brushes so you get everything you need!

see the video for a demo of this look!
This palette is sleek and light so great for travel and also houses a huge mirror which is a bonus. They also contain an oxygen complex and vitamins to help anti-aging on the eyelids! I keep saying this palette is "romantic" in shades- there are beautiful pinks, purples, a taupe a brown and a cream. It is a very wearable palette and you can also use any shadow as a liner. The pigmentation is buildable so it is good if you want to go easier with color or you can build up. The shadows all blended nicely together. All six colors have sheen to them but no heavy shimmer or glitter. None were matte. One thing I will note is there was some very slight fall out with certain shades, but not much at all. When worn over an eyeshadow primer the colors lasted a good 8 hours before I began to notice slight. fading

Check out my video for more information and for swatches and a demo!

4th day hair!

I had a good hair day yesterday! The most awesome part was it was DAY 4 HAIR!!! yes! I washed my hair on Wednesday and it was Saturday and I was still able to get away with it down =)

on my wash day I did a deep treatment with living proof restore mask and styled using living proof prime, restore cream, jessicurl spiralicious gel and Argan oil. Each day after I refreshed with devacurl mister right spray and topped with some CURLS Cashmere jelly to add shine and help frizz. the craziest part was I even worked out in between (those days I used dry shampoo)
